Pick the right vehicle and you will find it very easy to get cheap auto insurance rates. However, make the mistake of picking the wrong vehicle and you will have a very hard time getting anything that looks like an affordable premium. So what are the characteristics of a "right" vehicle?
A vehicle that does NOT attract a lot of attention from thieves is right for you if you are looking to pay less for coverage. Check the list of most stolen vehicles and avoid any vehicle that makes that list. You will have to pay more if you choose any of them especially the top three.
Also, look at your vehicle's safety rating. A vehicle's safety rating is something that shows an insurer the level of risk they might have to bear if they give coverage. Vehicles that have very high safety ratings are best for cheaper rates.
Avoid sports cars, sport utility vehicles (SUV's) or any high end vehicle. Such high-end vehicles cost more and attract higher rates.
