Freezing pipes is a devastating issue that will happen to your piping system the damage brought by this disaster means major repair to your home. These requires to replace the affected pipelines thus causing you to reconstruct the broken drywall, ceilings and even the furniture an appliances that got wet during the dripping time.
Prevention is better than cure, as to speak. It is better to plan ahead than to experience all these hassle you might go through if freezing pipes will go your way.
• Know the pipes that could possibly get frozen. These are the pipes located outside of the building that is installed on the wall especially in the upper floor. These pipes should be insulated with fiber glass or a rock wool so that when the cool breeze of the winter air blows, the still water inside the pipe will not be frozen.
• When you plan to leave town during winter season, shut off the main water supply and open the entire faucet to drain all the water remaining in the pipe. When the pipe is empty there is nothing to freeze. Call a reliable electrician to install the insulation to the pipes.
