How to advertise your company products on twitter

I have never been a fan of social websites like facebook due to the addictive nature that comes with it and also, the numerous applications that are coming up every single day and the numerous emails I get notifying of all the facebook activities that take place on my profile, like someone sending me a message or even when someone writes on my facebook wall and worse the countless group and page requests. My facebook account is dormant and that does not bother me in any way. Just recently my boss told me that I had to join twitter so that I could be able to market a certain product to a certain demographic that spent its time in twitter. I was supposed to learn how to connect a link related to our company products by tweeting it. So How Do I Tweet A Link was my main question. I asked my young sister who was always in twitter and she told me to create an account and that she was going to get me followers, it was the facebook equivalent to getting friends. So I did as I was told and all she did was duplicate the address of my company to my tween and I was able to use that link as my tweet. When she did it, it seemed easy but when I tried, it seemed like rocket science so she became my twitter advertising to go to person because all she did was just paste an address where I am supposed to tweet, so it becomes the tweet instead.
